Also of interest, Rock Band averages four DLC tracks sold per copy of Rock Band sold, while Guitar Hero averages only one. Link.
Sorry Harmonix. Life, sometimes, just isn’t fair. Link.
Postgame Report: Cameron crashed out, Jarrett kept going (or tried too). After calling last song he shut off the lights and attempted Burn, made it to the hard part, then failed out. Then he played an encore, STILL ALIVE and sang with it.
They didn’t make it to 539 (510 was the total methinks), but holy crap… 72 hours straight - no sleep. FOUR HOURS alone trying to get through Jesus Christ Pose in the we hours of Monday morning. That guitar intro will be burned into my mind mater for the rest of my life at this point. Respect.
Ongoing all weekend, expert drummer + expert guitarist, all songs available in Rock Band to date…
Mephisto Jak from Arizona meets Sophrosyne from New York while playing Rock Band on XBL in December of 2007. A year and some days later he’s living in New York and proposing in front of an audience via Rock Band DLC. Break out the Stage Kits, these two are going to have the best wedding reception evar!
From Kotaku…
Rigopulos said at the Billboard Digital Music Live keynote at CES that the Harmonix team will be directing its “creative energy” to the still-untitled Beatles video game project and expanding the catalog of tracks available for Rock Band and Rock Band 2.
Hopefully they will do a popouri song expansion pack instead. I really liked adding 104 songs to my library in September in one fell swoop. DLC is great and all, but most only buy tracks that they know. The full games provide a real oppourtunity for music discovery and value that DLC cannnot match.
Here’s the scenario:
Harmonix wants to make a Beatles game. The Beatles people are notoriously difficult to get a deal with, particularly when it comes to new music delivery systems (games, internet song distribution etc). Thenewno2, a band nobody has heard of, gets two lackluster songs as Rock Band DLC. Harmonix manages to sign the first ever game based on The Beatles. Thenewno2 leak via their MySpace page that their new album will be released “ASAP” as full album DLC, making it the first new band/album to receive such treatment from Harmonix. Thenewno2 was formed by Dhani Harrison, son of deceased Beatle George Harrison, in 2006.
You do the math.
